Western Education and Library Board launches new website
Wednesday 11 February 2004
" I am delighted to launch this new web site which has been designed in partnership with Biznet," said Mr Mullan. " This web site is more user friendly than before and will allow the public to access information about Board services much more quickly. The site has been designed to meet the 'Bobby' standard which means it should be very accessible to people who are visually impaired".
Also speaking at the launch Joe Martin, Chief Executive, said "this new web site is a major step forward and will help the Board to deliver services electronically to the public by 2005 in accordance with the e-government initiative. In particular the site will now advertise details of job opportunities with the Board and enable the public to download job descriptions and job application forms. The site will also help the Board to fulfil its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act, which is designed to establish a new culture of openness and transparency in public administration".
Other new features of the site include a publications area, a schools' directory providing contact details for every school in the Western area and an improved news area. Further developments are planned for the coming months including the facility to complete and submit job application forms online and the creation of a secure login area for schools, which will facilitate the distribution of large documents electronically to schools.
